The Red Devils have finally got their man after a summer of frustration. The 25-year-old arrives from The Bees for a guaranteed £65 million. The fee will be paid over four instalments, with a further £6 million in add-ons linked to performance and appearances.
Speaking to Manchester United’s official website, Mbeumo expressed his excitement:
“As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams; the team whose shirt I wore growing up.
My mentality is to always be better than I was yesterday. I know that I have the spirit and character to reach another level here learning from Ruben Amorim and playing alongside world-class players.
Everybody told me about the environment that is being created here and how exciting the plans are for the future. This is a massive club; with an incredible stadium and amazing fans we are all really determined to challenge for the biggest trophies”.
Mbeumo brings proven Premier League pedigree to United, having scored 70 times and registered 51 assists in 242 games since joining from the French side Troyes in 2019. Last season, he found his most prolific form yet, scoring 20 goals and seven assists in 38 Premier league matches.
Manchester United’s Director of Football, Jason Wilcox, reflects on the signing:
“Bryan’s goals and assists record in the Premier league is exceptional, his remarkable consistency has put him amongst the most productive players in England for the last three seasons.
Bryan’s belief in our project and determination to join the club confirmed that he was the perfect fit for Manchester United and the culture that we are developing”
The Cameroonian international is expected to join the squad for the club’s pre-season tour of the United States where he may feature against West Ham, Bournemouth, and Everton. It will be Mbeumo’s first opportunity to integrate with his new teammates and coaches ahead of the upcoming season.
Tactically, Mbeumo’s arrival could very well be the missing piece of Amorim’s current puzzle as he will fall naturally into the 3-4-2-1 system. A creative and intricate winger that will thrive in United’s new style. At his time under Thomas Frank, he has shown the qualities that get over shadowed such as his grittiness and determination to win the ball high up the pitch. An additional trait is his durability, making an appearance in every Premier League game this past 2024-25 season.
Manchester United’s new number 19 has a career defining season ahead. Will his tricky footwork and composed finishing be the vital addition The Red Devils so desperately need?
