Fight 1
Sam Hughes Vs Shuana Bannon
The night started quickly in the French Capital with a dominant victory for Sam Hughes over the Irish Shauna Bannon, getting her 11th professional victory.
The first round started tactically with both fighters trading jabs, measuring their distances. It wasn’t long before Hughes took control and got her first takedown of the night and perused the finish. After heavy ground and pound. Bannon managed to survive taking the fight into the second round.
The following round followed the same path as the first, a beautiful right hand dropped Bannon to the canvas. This time, Hughes got the finish after she got on the back of Bannon and wrapped her arms around Bannon , managing to get the rear naked choke victory.
Fight 2
Andreas Gustafson Vs Rinat Fakhretdinov
The first men’s fight of the night saw on two fiercely competitive fighters, Andreas Gustafson taking on Rinat Fakhretdinov. The fight was fought at a blistering pace with both fighters not wasting any time to inflict pain upon each other.
Rinat “Gladiator” Fakhretdinov unleashed powerful combinations, causing damage to which Gustafson had no answers. After constant strikes landed, The Swede fell to the canvas to which the referee had to put a stop to the fight. Just 54 seconds on the clock, the warrior earned his 24th victory and now has a seven fight unbeaten streak..
Fight 3
Brad Tavares vs Robert Bryczek
Both fighters traded jabs early on but Bryczek was soon on the hunt after landing the more damaging strikes. The pole dropped Tavares after a brutal quick fire of punches to the body and face, with brutal ground and pound to follow. Tavares managed to survive and get a takedown of his own, which helped him recover and held out till the end of the round.
The second round didn’t hold the same intensity as the first with Tavares circling the outside of the octagon, with Bryczek not able to leave to same imprint as the first.
The final and decisive round, the Pole ensured constant pressure, resembling the first round. Brutal combinations to the ribs and head of the Veteran until couldn’t absorbe anymore with the refereeing stopping the bout. This is Brycek first victory in the UFC.
Fight 4
Sam Patterson vs Trey Waters
Following the previous fights, both fighters wasted no time. Patterson worked his snappy jab well, utilising his reach advantage. It became a dominant performance from the Englishman, painting his shots all over the canvas, from the blood of Waters. A right hand rocked the chin of the American and followed up with more brutal shots with the referee stopping the first inside the first round. With 14 wins on his record now, Patterson is moving his way up the rankings.
Fight 5
Harry Hardwick vs Kaue Fernandes
An agonising loss for Harry Hardwick. The Englishman took this fight on just five days’ notice. Kaue Fernandes was on the front foot straight away and landedbrutal calf kicks. Straight away, Hardwick couldn’t hide the pain, limping around the octagon but didn’t stop him keeping the pressure on his opponent. Unfortunately one last calf kick from the Brazilian dropped the Englishman to the ground making Herb Dean stop the bout in the first round.
Fight 6
Marcin Tybura (7) vs Ante Delija
Ante Delija charged forward quickly, unleashing brutal strikes showcasing his rapid fire hand speed. After clinching against the cage, they found themselves in the middle of the octagon once again. Wasting no time, Delija kept constant pressure and a left hand dropped the ranked fighter and knocked him out inside the first round. Showcasing a brilliant UFC debut victory.
Fight 7
Oumar Sy VS Brendson Ribeiro
Oumar Sy was quick to get his first takedown of the night in the final Prelim fight as the French fans echoed their National Anthem around the arena. After they got back to the feet, Sy showcased his power and took down Ribeiro again. Turning his hand to ground and pound this time, destructive strikes to the head and body from behind the Brazilian was too much and the referee had to intervene again, earning another first round finish and his 12th victory.
That is the end of the Preliminary fights, but the night is just getting started in Paris.
